We are a young and unique collective of media and creative professionals, registered as a multi-state cooperative. One of its kind in the country, Cc is a group of skilled professionals representing almost the entire spectrum of communication. In the mad rush of the ‘information revolution’, we have joined hands to work out meaningful, pro-people and socially relevant interventions in the field of communication. Cc is the largest and the only media self help group in India today having more than 135 members from 10 States of India working in the field of mass media (radio, TV, print, internet), Culture (theatre, song, painting, finearts, graphic design etc), Research and Training and literary-creative activities. We have come together to stand up against the decadent tendencies and express our commitment to democratic and humanitarian values. Apart from undertaking above activities Cc engages with organising public events as a part of its commitment to promote meaningful cultural events also. We have planned a series of events to explore the cultural-literary personality of our country to engage in a re-examination and reappraisal of our heritage and culture and to appreciate the cultural milestones by the works of great communicators of our history. Thus, as the inaugural public event, Cc organised a National seminar on the 150th birth anniversary of Bharatendu Harischandra to honor the genius who laid the foundations to ‘Khadi Boli’ Hindi. It was an unusual seminar, which began with rendering of representative selection of Bharatendu's poems composed and sung by Kishore Kumar Chaudhri. Namvar Singh, Mujeeb Rizvi, Shameem Hanfi and Nemi Chandra Jain alongwith a young scholar Dr Ramesh Kumar were invited to present their papers. The seminar was a success judged by the attendance and the coverage it received in the Hindi press. Subsequently, Cc has embarked upon a series of events called 'Saajhi Virasat' to appreciate the common cultural traditions between our neighboring countries to build bridges between people at these times of mistrust and suspicion. The first programme of this series was organised on the 124th birth anniversary of South Asia’s most celebrated poet -philosopher, Iqbal on 9th November 2001 at Sahitya Academy. Subhendu Ghosh opened the evening with presentation of song composition of the poems of Iqbal. Mohd. Hassan, Abdul Haq, Naseer Ahmed Khan, Anwar Pasha and Khwaja Ikramuddin presented their papers. Ashok Bajpai, Gopichand Narang and Rafeeq Zakaria were also invited. Many rare photographs of Iqbal obtained from Iqbal Academy, Pakistan was exhibited outside. The podium exhibited a portrait of Iqbal painted by Vishaka, a member of Cc. We also organised a unique event Sufi Basant Utsava on 17th Feb. 2002. We are looking for mutually enriching association with people and organisation with similar understanding. |
